Thank you to all who came to help at The Friends of Hope Valley Workday. Last year we worked in the snow; this year we had blue skies and a warm breeze. The Friends worked hard on three projects. Much of the fence that protects the meadows and wet lands from invading motorized vehicles was repaired and in some places beautified by replacing metal posts and barbwire with wooden posts donated by a local rancher. We also planted 15 buckets full of willows along sections of the West Fork of the Carson River’s eroding bank. The Forest Service Fire Department helped us with some heavy logs that are to be placed across routes through which campers encroach on wetlands. After three and a half hours of hard work we all enjoyed lunch in the shade along the cool waters of the West Fork. What a day!
We hope to see you again next year. Those of you who were unable to come, please mark next year’s Memorial Day weekend and join us.
